2020/2021 Season Policies
Protégé Dance Company operates on a 36-week season with classes running from September to June.
We are moving forward this 2020/2021 season with the understanding that it is a COVID year; where the dance season/calendar may become compromised by either a second wave or government mandated restrictions. Protégé Dance Company will proceed with the primary focus of teaching technique in both the recreational and competitive programs.
Recreational Program - We will communicate with you in January 2021, how and if we can proceed with a year-end show. Should we proceed, Costume Deposits will be collected by February 1st, 2021.
Competitive Program - We will communicate with you this October/November, how we anticipate moving forward with choreography, competitions and exams.
Recreational and Competitive Programs - We are kindly asking our Protégé families to be as fluid and adaptable as possible. We will proceed this season: one month-at-a-time, with a year-end goal of: Competitions, Exams and Year-End Showcase, however understanding that our dance season may become compromised due to COVID-19 outcomes and/or variables.
REGISTRATION FEE:
A $30.00 non-refundable registration fee is required per family upon registration.
PAYMENT OPTIONS:
NEW: Monthly Payment Plan ONLY
Full tuition amount divided into 9 equal installments (plus HST). First installment due at registration. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to submit payment at the time it is due.
- Post-dated cheques are strongly recommended*. Cheques payable to “Protégé Dance Company”. (Cheques dated the first of the month: September – May)
*To reduce the amount of traffic in the studio/office.
- Cash, Debit, Visa, MasterCard or Cheque- paid in the office (Miss Lori) by appointment only.
Monthly payments must be made in the first 7 days of the month. After this date late fees will apply*. After these 7 days if we cannot confirm your continued participation, your enrolment is subject to dismissal to make room for another candidate. Please communicate to us ahead of time if you will be making a late payment due to: illness, absenteeism or vacation.
*Late payments: $10.00/week on outstanding fees.
NSF CHEQUES/ADMINISTRATION FEE:
An administration fee of $30.00 will be charged to all NSF cheques.
REFUND POLICY:
Any fees that have been paid to Protégé Dance Company are NON-REFUNDABLE. Fees include: tuition, exam, costume, choreography, competition entry fees and merchandise payments.
To withdraw from a program – Written notice is required and you are obligated for the pay period (monthly instalment) you are in.
In addition, fees will not be refunded for: missed classes, inclement weather, fire, flood, earthquakes, pandemic and/or any acts of god.
All deposits required in the recreational and competitive programs are NON-REFUNDABLE.
FORCE MAJEURE:
In the event that any class, show or competition is cancelled or is delayed or that Protégé Dance Company is prevented from performing its obligations herein by reason of (a) acts of God; (b) flood, fire, earthquake or explosion; (c) war, invasion, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), terrorist threats or acts, riot or other civil unrest; (d) government order or law; (e) actions, embargoes or blockades in effect on or after the date of this Agreement; (f) action by any governmental authority; (g) national or regional emergency; (h) strikes, labour stoppages or slowdowns or other industrial disturbances; (i) shortage of adequate power or transportation facilities, (j) failure of subcontractors to perform in timely fashion; (k) pandemics or epidemics, or (l) any other cause beyond the control of Protégé Dance Company (“Force Majeure”), the performance of Protégé Dance Company’s obligations herein shall be excused and Protégé Dance Company shall not be liable for any expenditure, liability or loss incurred by any of its students and/or their parents.
For further clarity, in the event of Force Majeure, Protégé Dance Company may, but shall not be obligated to, provide alternate classes, including, but not limited to, virtual and/or digital classes, to its students during studio closures as a result of a Force Majeure Event, in its sole and unfettered discretion. Notwithstanding the foregoing, as all fees and payments are NON-REFUNDABLE, except as outlined herein, any adjustments or refunds to fees during an event of Force Majeure are in the sole and unfettered discretion of Protégé Dance Company.
Discounts are available for multiple classes per family:
- 2 classes/week = 5% discount
- 3 or more classes/week = 10% discount

COSTUME DEPOSITS:
A non-refundable costume deposit of $75.00 per costume is required for recreational students by February 1st. Costumes range from: $75-$100 plus HST/each.
A non-refundable costume deposit of $100.00 per costume is required for competitive students. Costumes range from: $200-$300 plus HST/each.
ATTENDANCE:
Regular attendance is an important component to a child's success. Poor attendance may result in the dismissal of a student or limited participation in our year-end showcase(s). Protégé Dance Company reserves the right to withdraw a student whose behaviour is disruptive or jeopardizes the progress of other students.
There are no refunds for missed classes.
STUDIO DRESS CODE:
Protégé Dance Company has a dress code in place to help students build a positive body image and to allow the teacher to correct alignment and technique. All dance attire can be purchased and/or ordered through: Dance Code (Ajax, ON). Phone #905-427-0443

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
In the event of inclement weather, classes will be cancelled. Parents will be informed by email & facebook by 2pm (M-F) or 8am (Sat & Sun). When Protégé is forced to cancel classes due to unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control (ie: weather), unfortunately we are unable to reschedule classes. We don't make the call to cancel classes lightly. No refunds for inclement weather.
