Those paying by debit/visa/master card are expected to make their payment within the first seven days of the month; thereafter, a late payment fee is applicable. Protégé Dance Company secures all post-dated cheques. Protégé Dance Company deposits all cheques dated for the 1st of the month, on the 8th day of every month.
Late Payment Fee:
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to submit payment at the time it is due. A late payment fee of $5.00/week will apply to all outstanding balances and/or cheques put on hold. Cheques put on hold must consequently be paid in cash, debit, visa or master card, in addition to the late payment fee. ALL LATE PAYMENT FEES MUST BE PAID BY CASH/DEBIT/VISA OR MASTERCARD ONLY- cheques will not be accepted for any late fees. A maximum of $15 late fee (three weeks) will be charged; after 21 days of the payment deadline the student will no longer be permitted to class.
A $30.00 administration fee will be applied to all NSF cheques.

Regular attendance (recreational and competitive program) is an important component to a child's success in their dance class and at the studio. Poor attendance may result in a student's limited participation in events such as: competitions, year-end showcase, dance exams, etc. Protégé Dance Company reserves the right to ask for the withdrawal of any student whose behaviour is disruptive or jeopardizes the progress of other students. There are no refunds for missed classes.
Lateness is not tolerated- it disrupts the focus and momentum of the teacher, class and students involved. Parental support and co-operation is needed.
Competitive Team Attendance Policy:
Regular attendance is a vital component to a child's success. Poor attendance, lateness and/or missed classes will not be tolerated and will result in a student’s dismissal from the team. Co-operation from the parent is needed.
Protégé Dance Company reserves the right to ask for the withdrawal of any student whose behaviour is disruptive or jeopardizes the progress of other students, including Parent’s misconduct or unhealthy behaviour, to teachers, choreographers and/or administration. If parents cannot agree to our studio policies then the competitive program is not the right fit for your child/family. Dismissal will be the only course of action.
All holidays are to be scheduled during our studio holiday schedule. Homework, family get-togethers, birthdays, weddings, graduation trips, events, etc. are all to be worked around the dance schedule. The competitive program is a team commitment. No excuses. Everyone makes the same sacrifice. We are VERY transparent with the rules and policies we have in place.

inclement weather policy
In the event of inclement weather, classes will be cancelled. Parents will be informed by email & facebook by 2pm (M-F) or 8am (Sat & Sun). When Protégé is forced to cancel classes due to unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control (ie: weather), unfortunately we are unable to reschedule classes. We don't make the call to cancel classes lightly. No refunds for inclement weather.
Illness (When to Keep a Child Home?)
For the protection of everyone (teachers, administration, students and parents), your child should be kept AT HOME if they show ANY of the following symptoms:
- a temperature of 100 degrees or more
- discharging eyes or ears
- diarrhea or vomiting
- a bad cold (i.e., with colored discharge)
- an unexplained rash
- severe coughing
Children must be free of the symptoms listed above for 24 hours (without medication) in order to come back to dance.
If a child has been exposed to a contagious disease, Protégé Dance Company must be notified. We specifically need to know when a child will return to dance after a communicable disease according to the following schedule:
- Streptococcal Infection (aka “Strep Throat”): 24 hours after medication has started (must continue medication for 10 days).
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): 24 hours after medication begins and no visible drainage from eye or with written physician permission.
- Head lice: Morning after first treatment and after all nits are removed by hand.
